Description of manganese steels
austenitic manganese steel alloys are composed of 1 – 1.4 % C and 12 – 14 % Mn. The high Mn content allows the austenitic structure at ambient temperature. The yield strength of those manganse steels are comparible to HSLA-steels and manganse steels are very well noun because of the impact strengths and the work hardening process. Those steels are weldable.

Applications for manganese steels
manganese steels are used in applications were abbrasion and high impact is possible and also in conditions where lubrication is not possible.

Typical applications are crashers, conveyors, mills, bushes, wear pads, etc.
